I have expressed a fondness for used-gadget trade-in sites like Gazelle.com since they offer a reasonable amount of cash for your stuff (read: not what you might get on eBay, but with virtually no effort on your part). Perhaps looking to get in on the action, Verizon has started accepting phones as trade-ins and giving out a ‘Verizon Wireless gift card’ in exchange. But is it a good deal? I shopped my Motorola Droid to both Verizon and Gazelle to see!
If I decided to take my Droid to Verizon, here is their offer:
But if I took it to Gazelle, here is what they would give me:
So I can get TWICE as much from Gazelle than from Verizon, for the same phone in the same condition? And Gazelle gives me ‘real’ money whereas Verizon gives me one of their gift cards?
Perhaps if you are switching carriers and want that credit NOW it might be worthwhile … but I’m really not sure. My lousy old Moto z6cx non-camera slider is worth nothing to Verizon but Gazelle would give me $9.
What do you think? Could you see yourself using Verizon’s program?
