Alright, so Mr. Zhao might not have found a cure for cancer but he does build these wondrous business cards that just breathe geeky. According to Frank’s Circle of Current website he can build these USB-capable PSB business cards.

What did Frank need to build one? Mad soldering skills are a given. Throw in a 1.6mm thick PCB board, 3 resistors, 1 capacitor, 2 Zener diodes, and 1 ATtiny85 microcontroller he programmed using with an AVR in-circuit programmer. There are detailed instructions on his siteĀ  that are pure headache-inducing gibberish to the common layman. For a taste of the brain-melting technicality/precision of Mr. Zhao’s work, here’s a chunk of text:

“Programming the ATtiny85 is done with an AVR in-circuit programmer. I made an adapter that connected a standard 6-pin ISP header to a USB port and two additional wires. The card has two hidden pads which the additional wires plug into. Programming with this setup requires you to use a low SCK frequency due to the resistors in the circuit.”

However, those wishing to try their hand at DIY USBs should drop by Zhao’s website. There are pics and instructional vides there too, so check it out.
