Introducing ViewSonic’s new ereader tag team—VEB 620 and VEB 625; light-weight, slim and multipurpose gadgets that are 11mm in thickness and weighs 0.26kg. These devices are easy to handle and can be held in the palm of your hand.
They both have a 6-inch display, but unlike 620, the 625 has a touch screen and has a built-in WiFi to access more books from the net. This duo has 2GB phone memory space; an SD expansion slot and an accelerometer for automatic page rotation are among some of its other features. Thus, you can save several books with this type of expandable memory.
A virtual keyboard is made accessible and the touch screen feature would help make highlighting and note-taking easy, as it can be done directly on the screen itself. By giving the gadget a shake to the left or to the right, the pages are turned, with the use of a G-sensor or just by finger swiping.
The ViewSonic’s latest eBook uses a complex E-ink panel technology which creates a genuine look and feel of regular paper. This component makes it effortless to read even in direct sunlight. The Li-Ion battery and the additional power saving characteristic of E-Ink means that this eBook supports about 8,000 page turns for the 620 and 6,500 for the 625. That’s almost like reading 20 books! With these new gadgets, reading your best-loved stories or chosen literature pieces won’t consist of taking a book with you and taking down notes of importance wouldn’t be too hard.
Both eBooks support plain text, ePub, PDF and MP3 audio formats and has a variety of languages such as English, German, Traditional Chinese, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Dutch, Greek and Turkish.
These fabulous gadgets are already available in Europe and are priced as £175 ($269) for the VEB 620 and £205 ($315) for the VEB 625, respectively, but the VAT is excluded.
I do not, in any way, consider this gadget to be such a necessity. Although books are heavy and sometimes quite a nuisance to carry, it is nonsense to buy something that would act as book storage. That’s what libraries are for. But I guess this gadget is for people who are always on the go and those who don’t have the time to visit libraries.
