Microsoft and Facebook are working together in order to come out with some major changes to Bing. Apparently, this partnership is expected to come out with some big integration with the Bing search engine as it attempts to take some market share away from Google. On the said press event, Microsoft’s head on Digital and Search named Qi Lu discussed how Bing can effectively help users to get things done, accomplish it faster and enable them to make decisions better. Lu has also discussed anchor text and its importance to search algorithms and how it will help users in their search.

Aside from this, the partnership between Microsoft and Facebook was also tackled as well as how important the partnership has been. Apparently, Microsoft and Facebook will be working closely together to make Bing incredibly better and address all the problems encountered with it. They have promised a better user experience as they go along.

As mentioned earlier, one of the biggest integrations that Microsoft and Facebook will be working with is Bing’s integration with the Facebook. Apparently, in this integration a Facebook module will appear on your search results page and shows you which links your friends are “liking.” This module will appear at the right-hand area of the search result page and also differs from user to user based on the user’s social network.

To give you an idea of how this integration works an example would be if you are searching for a restaurant, this Facebook module we are talking about will show you which restaurants your friends have “liked.” The same thing goes for movie searches, show times, events, etc. And when it comes to people searches, a “People on Facebook” module is likewise included. This module will help you narrow down your search as it only shows off the most relevant to you. Basically, this module uses similar networks as well as common friends to figure out who to display in these people searches.

It seems that the future gets even more interesting with this partnership between Microsoft and Facebook. Bing will surely be a bigger and better search engine as the days go by. However, the question is – will these enhancements be enough for people to use Bing over Google? So what do you think? Will this Facebook integration encourage you to use Bing rather than other search engines? Well, these questions are still to be answered. No date was mentioned as to when this feature will be available but some believe that to be happening very soon.
