With the media, politicians and businesses focusing on being more green and eco-friendly, there’s been a big boom in green gadgets. I review eco-gadgets daily, so I’ve collected together the most popular green gizmos that I’ve reviewed on EnviroGadget in recent months.

So let’s start with a piece of jewelery. The Pulsar Solar Watch is a pretty new development in the world of watches that are solar powered. Rather than worry about expensive and potentially mercury-based watch batteries, the solar watches contain a rechargeable battery. The internal battery is charged using the solar cell on the face of the watch. Impressively, a fully charged watch will last up to 6 months without needing another charge! The watches are not too expensive either, which means you won’t be raiding your piggy bank to buy one.

If you’re anything like me, you probably have quite a few remote controls. Perhaps a remote for your DVD player, TV, Satellite receiver, digital video recorder, cable box, surround sound controller, etc. With having so many remote controls, you’re bound to lose one of them at some point. You also need lots of batteries to power all of them too. The Wind Up Universal Remote Control is a cunning remote control that will allow you to control six different devices. Here’s the best bit, the wind up remote control doesn’t need batteries since it’s hand powered!

We’re just about still in the summer season, so here’s something for the garden. If you love having a BBQ, there’s no doubt you’re going to have plenty of flies and insects hovering about. Grab yourself some Solar-powered Insect Killers to solve the issue. Not only are you removing the need to use any harmful chemicals in the garden (such as bug spray), but you’re using free energy to fend off the little blighters too!

If you live in an apartment (we call it a flat in the UK) or you’re in the middle of a city, you might not have much of a garden, if at all. The NatureMill Indoor Composter allows you to compost your food waste indoors. Using a range of techniques including mixing, adding moisture and bacteria, the NatureMill avoids the need for insects or worms to break down the food waste. Since the composter uses aerobic decomposition, all you smell is something close to damp hay. Although the composter does use electricity, it costs around $0.50 a year to run, and you can compost around 120 lbs or 55kg of food waste per month!

You just need to wind up the torch for a minute to get around 30 minutes of light. I’ve got two of these torches, one in the house, and another in the car. They are so useful! You don’t need to worry about batteries whatsoever, as you just charge it up when you need it. The battery has been especially designed for frequent charging, so it will last you ages. Particularly useful if you’re in the middle of nowhere with no spare batteries or street lights (as I recently discovered!).

I hope you enjoyed this collection of green gadgets. There are new eco gadgets being developed all the time, so be sure to stop by EnviroGadget if you want to hear about a few more eco gizmos!
