The Hasbro i-Dog Dance is loads of fun. Like the original i-Dog, it dances to music and acts as a speaker, but it now also responds to commands through its face sensors. You can use the sensors to adjust the i-Dog’s volume, make him stand up and sit down, move his head and ears, and, of course, dance. My favorite new features is the tapping foot–he taps it to the beat when you play music for him, and that command is also available using the face sensors.

Like the original i-Dog, the i-Dog Dance’s face lights up to indicate his mood, and he’ll bark or growl at you if he’s upset. The best way to make him happy is by feeding him music, either via his built-in mic, or using the standard audio jack on his left leg. To turn him on simply touch his nose; to power him down, hold his nose down for about 2 seconds, and he’ll go to “sleep.”

The one negative about the i-Dog Dance is that this guy makes a lot of noise when he’s moving around. Not a problem if the music’s loud, but it’s still a bit distracting. (You can definitely hear him loud and clear in the video.)

Still, for about $40, the i-Dog Dance make an affordable gift for kids and adults alike. (He’s definitely on my list!) Get your own at Hasbro’s online store.
