We made it to the last (work)day of 2007. And although we Gearloggers are looking forward to the long weekend, popping a few champagne corks, and spending Tuesday sleeping it off, perhaps (just perhaps) we’re gonna miss good ol’ ’07. As the clock ticks away the last days of this non-leap year, we’ve been feeling a bit nostalgic for the top stories of the last twelve months.

When we took a minute to look back at which posts you read the most, we found a few of the usual suspects, like the Wii and Palm Centro. But, shock of shocks, no iPhone, no iPod, no i-anything. A complete and total Apple shut-out. Click through to see what came out on top.

1. Cheap Geek: CompUSA Closures Mean Big Discounts for You
When a big chain closes up shop in more than half of its stores, that means big discounts. And in February, we (and you) were all over the CompUSA closures, but they were sneaky: Discounts were only valid on on-hand merchandise in stores that were shutting down, and CompUSA quickly deleted folding stores from its online directory. This month, though, it’s a different story, as each and every CompUSA outlet is throwing in the towel after the holidays.

2. Incredible Wiimote Hack Creates Multitouch Display
Who needs to wait around and drop his entire savings account on a Microsoft Surface? If you ask Johnny Chung Lee of Carnegie Mellon University, the answer is “no one.” In this amazingly simple video, Lee goes MacGyver on a Wii remote, a laptop PC, a couple of gutted ballpoint pens, and some infrared light components to fashion a multitouch, interactive tablet display on his wall and tabletop.

3. Dell Shows Off Super-Slim Display Port LCD Monitor
As far as displays go, there are two things we’re all suckers for: ultra-thinness and pin-point resolution. When we snuck a peek at Dell’s Display Port in May, everyone was going ga-ga over its high resolution (about 4 times that of most HDTVs) and slim profile.

4. Hands-On With The Sprint Palm Gandolf, HTC Touch and More!
What higher praise can gossipy geeks give a new gadget than to dub it “Gandolf”? What name would dare attempt to trump the LOTR sage? And, what a letdown when it ends up named the “Centro”! Name aside, when Sascha Segan got his mitts on the Palm Centro, we all clamored to find out what was in store.

5. The Toy: A Bluetooth-enabled Vibrator
Perhaps we’ve said all there is to say about the now-infamous “toy”—or at least the Weird Hunter and the rest of the Gearlog Radio crew have. Still, we’re waiting to see who steps up to the plate to test it out. Er, maybe not.
