For those of you can’t cash in your government bonus and steal away to Epcot, Comcast is teaming up with Sony to launch its own World of Tomorrow.
The Sony Style Comcast Labs will open tomorrow at the Comcast Center – the cable company’s downtown Philadelphia headquarters. The retail store and tech lab will “showcase the latest innovative products and services from both companies and preview future Comcast technology, products and services,” the company said.
Future technology exhibits will include the future of high-speed Internet, with 100 Mbits/s of surfing and downloading, and the future of home phone service – or a cordless phone with e-mail, IM, texting, and Yellow Pages.
Sony will showcase its Bravia HD LCD TV’s, Vaio PCs, DSLR and Cyber-shot cameras, Handycam camcorders, PlayStation products, and emerging products like organic light emitting diode (OLED) TV’s.
The store is “a terrific, hands-on way for consumers to experience how all our products work together,” Tony Werner, Comcast’s chief technology officer, said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Comcast subscribers who are fans of sparkly, man-boy vampires will have the option to watch Twilight on-demand beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, March 21 – the same day as its DVD release. They will also have access to three featurettes, including a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the “Vampire Baseball” Scene.
