Sanyo has made a world record for its Li-Ion batteries for the Mira EV electric car. And to expand its influence further, Sanyo has announced their collaboration with Suzuki for supplying the Lithium Ion battery for Suzuki Swift Hybrid Cars.


This new generation of SUZUKI hybrid vehicles plug-in (PHVs) will be called as “Swift Plug-in Hybrid”. No further clarification if automotive industry in Japan is planning on massive change of power platform from fossil fuel to green energy or electricity type of energy.


This is not the first time for SANYO to work with companies in the automotive industry as according to the company they have been supplying nickel-metal hydride batteries for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) to Honda and Ford since 2004 and also been carrying out joint development with the Volkswagen Group for next-generation nickel-metal hydride and lithium-ion battery systems, as well as with PSA Peugeot Citroën for a nickel-metal hydride battery system.

After all, one big question lies ahead, will Japanese giant automotive spare parts manufacturers willing to gradually reduce or discontinue their production for current circulated spare parts?
