Sony has launched a new Vaio Notebook, the Vaio TT, which they are marketing as the World’s smallest Blu-ray notebook, weighing in at just 2.87 pounds, as well as being light it is extremely thin at just 1 inch thick.

“This engineering marvel packs the power of HD technology into an ultra-light, ultra-portable notebook,” said Mike Abary, senior vice president of VAIO product marketing at Sony Electronics.

The Sony Vaio TT features an 11-1 inch widescreen LCD display and uses Sony’s XBRITE-DuraViewâ„¢ LCD technology, which is supposed to deliver 100 percent color saturation for a wide range of vibrant colors and true-to-life picture quality.

The technology is designed to produce a brighter screen thanks to an energy-efficient white LED backlight so you can view photos in crystal-clear resolution.

Selected models of the new Vaio TT range will be able to play Blu-ray movies in full HD 1080p resolution when connected to a compatible HDTV, as well as HD playback they will be able to record HD and store them on Blu-ray discs. The Sony Vaio TT range will come with HDMI out, so you can hook it up to your HD TV.

Processing comes in the for of an Intel Centrino 2 processor, and there is even the option for a dual channel 256GB SSD (128GB x 2), there is also built in WAN, and all models will come with a choice of Windows Vista Home Premium, Vista Business and Vista Ultimate.

The Sony Vaio TT comes in a range of colours including carbon black, silk black, champagne gold and crimson red, prices start at $2,000 for the base model, $2700 for the Blu-ray version, and $2750 for the SSD model with a 128GB hard drive, they will go on sale later in the year.
